News Credit: Afzal Guru hanged in Delhi for the purpose of attacking Parliament

Afzal Guru, found guilty for his part in the attack on Parliament in December 2001, was executed at 8 in this morning and has been buried at Delhi's Tihar Jail.

Two hours after, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde made an official statement. He stated his ministry had proposed to President Pranab Mukherjee on January 21 that Guru be executed. The President, he mentioned, denied the convict's mercy application on February 3, the order of execution  was finalized the upcoming day, and the date and period  for hanging him was predetermined on February 8, last night. (

Guru was hanged and buried near the higher protection cell no 3 at Tihar, where he spent more than eight years on death row.

Mr Shinde reported all the legalised technique was adopted in Guru's execution. Home Secretary RK Singh refuted accusations that Guru's wife, Tabassum,

and family were not well informed about his mercy application being denied, stating that they had been directed a swiftness post and recorded letter.

Mr Shinde mentioned the Centre is strongly viewing the circumstances in Kashmir, in which curfew has been charged in all 10 districts of the Valley to avoid aggressive tendencies. Services of Cable TV  have been disconnected in numerous  parts; Afzal Guru belonged to Sopore in Kashmir and several in the state Guru was not offered a truthful trial. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has claimed continuously that  hanging of Guru may   grave consequences. He was in Delhi this morning and has turned  back to the  state.

Afzal Guru was offered the death sentence by the Supreme Court in 2004. His clinging, appointed for October 20, 2006, was remained just after his wife submitted the mercy petition, which had been awaiting with the President's office since.

The most important opponent party, the BJP, has for long inhibited the delay. Today, the BJP said the execution was "late but is unquestionably welcome." "The people of this country had been patiently waiting for this for a very long time. This is a suitable action in the fight in opposition to terrorism," BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy included.

The politically-sensitive final decision to go forward with the execution is directed at signalling the government's dedication to fighting terror. In November, in a very similar top secret operation, Pakistani terrorist Ajman Kasab, grabbed throughout the 26/11 assaults in Mumbai, was executed at a jail which was in Pune.

On December 13, 2001, five heavily-armed terrorists went into the Parliament complex and made firing. Nine people were murdered, the majority of them members of the security forces. All the terrorists were shot dead. 

Either Houses of Parliament had just been adjourned and many MPs and ministers, which include then Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani were however inside. Afzal Guru was caught early the next day and arrested of arranging the attack.
